Self-Introduction

Dear All,

I am thrilled to join the KineJapan list. So, let me briefly introduce myself:

I was one of the organizers of a film series, "Japanese Cinema After the
Economic Miracle: Masaki Tamura, Cinematographer," held in Winter, 1999 at
the University of Chicago. 

My dissertation topic will be Mizoguchi Kenji, and my current interests
are: reception of Hollywood films in the mid1930s Japan; the concept(s) of
melodrama and Japanese cinema; vicissitudes of politique des auteurs,
auteurism, and sakkashugi; construction of the domestic space in Japanese
films, especially Mizoguchi films.
