Agata Morio is not a she but a he. He was born 1948 in Hakodate and is best
known as a musician. His first album was released in 1970, since then he had
many hits and a very sucessful career as singer. In 1974 he directed his
first feature film 'Boku wa tenshi ja nai yo' (1974). This was followed in
1978 by a shortfilm. His second feature film 'Ootobai shojo' came out in
1994 and last year his third feature film 'Minato no Rokushii' was released.
He also appeared as actor in films like Ichikawa Jun's 'Tsugumi', Riju Go's
'Elefant Song', Yaguchi Shinobu's 'Hadashi no pikunikku', Morita
Yoshimitsu's 'Shitsurakuen' or Hayashi Kaizo's 'Yume miru yoo ni nemuritai'.
Hayashi's film was co-produced by Agata and he also wrote the music for it.
Agata is somehow an outsider of the Japanese film-world, and his films can
be described as 'seishun eiga', although they are quite different from the
ordinary youth films.
