Quite possible.  In fact even in most widescreen American films the action
(broadly speaking) tends to be in one part of the frame that can easily be
used for a full-frame video without missing much.  Those striking shots
from 50s films where you'd get important material on extreme ends of the
widescreen frame are pretty rare nowadays.
