women and spectators

Two films that come to mind right away for spectators watching films in a
theater:
1. Kurosawa's NO REGRETS FOR OUR YOUTH (Waga seishun ni kui nashi, 1946)
Yukie and Noge attend the movies in the long montage sequence relating the
nature of their married life--she's not as "heiki" as she thought and frets
relentlessly, he laughs away at whatever is on the screen
2. Ichikawa Kon's MR. POO (Pu-san, 1953 Toho), based on cartoons by Yokoyama
Taizo, but story is original by Ichikawa and wife, screenwriter Wada Natto.
I haven't seen this in ages and can barely remember it (maybe others can be
more specific), but think of it often and wish it would be available with
subtitles to show in class--
