The Massachusetts Institute of Technology invites applications for an
Assistant Professor in modern and contemporary Japanese literature and
cultural studies (tenure track), to begin Fall 2002. Ph.D. and native or
near- native fluency in Japanese and English is required. Preferred fields
of specialization include contemporary and historic forms of popular
culture and contemporary globalization of mass culture, such as anime and
other popular cinemas, manga and graphic arts, new media, or popular
music. Teaching duties include undergraduate courses in
culture/literature and undergraduate/graduate courses in the candidate's
area of specialization in conjunction with the Comparative Media Studies.
