Image's new DVD releases of _A Scene At The Sea_ and _Kids Return_ are out.
They are widescreen transfers (despite earlier reports that they would only be
pan and scan). They have subtitles which (I believe) can be turned off.
I have two questions about _A Scene At The Sea_ First, what is the literal
translation of _Ano Natsu, Ichiban Shizukana Umi_. (I know its [something]
summer, first [something] sea). <g>
Second -- Am I overinterpreting or is one supposed to think the young heroine
commits suicide to join her lost lover in his watery grave. (At first I thought
she was only sending the surfboard out to sea as a do-it-yourself funeral rite,
but then I started to wonder).
