Sorry to be a pedant, but PAL and NTSC does apply to DVDs.  Some DVD 
players can handle both systems, but a multi-system TV or a signal 
converter is necessary.  So, although DVD Region 2 encompasses Japan and 
the UK, Japan is NTSC and the UK is PAL which confuses the issue even 
further.  Can't we all just get along?
