Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Retrospective
Selected films (14) by the versatile Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa (born in Kobe, 1955) are being screened at the Japanese Cultural Institute in Rome from 1 February till 27 March 2001.
The programme includes "Cure" (1997) and "Charisma" (1999), the films for which Kurosawa is best known in the West. All films are in original language with English subtitles. Screeening are on Tues and Thurs at 19.00, except for "Charisma" scheduled on Feb 19 (Monday) at 18.00: following the screening of Charisma, on Feb.19 at 20.00, Kurosawa will be interviewed by Maria Roberta Novielli, lecturer in Japanese Cinema and Literature at the Ca' Foscari University in Venice.
On Feb 20 at 15.00, "Cure" will be screened in Venice, at Auditorium Santa Margherita (Dorsoduro, 3689 Venezia - tel. 041 5212765), where Kurosawa will be interviewed by M.R. Novielli at 17.00. The interview will be followed by the screening of "Charisma" at 19.00.
