Dear list members,

being a regular guest and visitor in Pordenone or to be more precise
Sacile, a very small town which hosts the festival named Le Giornate
Del Cinema Muto I think I can add some informations and correct some
impressions. It is a rather small festival. Who knows Far East in
Udine has a cpmparable experience. Visitors are mostly film historians
archive people, students, journalists and addicts to silent films.
Very many visitors from the US. A real problem is the facilities
for loding visitors and in some way getting meals in Sacile. The
final list of Japanese films which was posted, will probably smaller.
There are other subjects too. Curation is not loose and it is not
as many films as possible and you have to decide. It is the search
for systematic programming which makes the big programme. For some
years now every year there is the programme of one years production
output of D.W. Griffith, this year it will be 1911. Everybody has
to choose what is important and what he can manage, sleeping and
food included. For real lovers it is like Christmas in October.
