I have seen it this week end at the theater and can confirm only Aaron's 
opinion.

Shinji Soma?'s film, although made in the 80's, does not suffer from the 
passing of time. It is indeed a very true portrait of teenagehood, dark but 
not hopeless.

The direction is very discreet (and so very efficient), and let the young 
actors play the best part. It also provides much information about the 
condition of japan youth at the time (and maybe still now). Still, wether 
portraiting japanese boys and girls, his movie has the power to speak to 
each and everyone of us.
