So glad you asked! :)

Make 9 hours available for yourself where you won't be interrupted and can concentrate. Oh sure -- you can break it up if you HAVE TO (!) -- but I'm one of those marathon-type guys as far as this sort of thing goes!

It's really a masterpiece, imho. It's funny that the first mention I ever heard of Nakadai was in Richie's Kurosawa book where the reviewer [not Richie] complains about his acting in Kagemusha (which I disagree with, in any case...)

I think he's fantastic here -- and all I can say is do yourself a favor and watch this film carefully. It's full of subtleties which cry out for repeat viewings (I've probably seen it 8 or 9 times by now!)...

Again, an extraordinary film, by any standards!
