Love Cinema question

Hi fellow KineJapanners,

I have a few questions regarding last year’s cycle of DV shot films that
came out under the Love Cinema banner.
The best known of these outside of Japan has obviously been MIIKE Takashi’s
VISITOR Q, in no small measure to the director’s growing esteem outside of
the country, and aided by the English subbed Korean DVD release. The series
of 6 films also included SHIOTA Akihiko’s GIPS and HIROKI Ryuichi’s TOKYO
GOMI ONNA (TOKYO TRASH BABY).
However, I was wondering how these films were received in Japan, and would
also be very interested in any details on the individual films themselves,
because very few of them have been screened outside of Japan and hence very
little information is available on them.
Was Miike’s film singled out partularly for praise by the Japanese critics,
or was it ignored? Which one was the best received? Who on this list has
even seen any of them? What was the idea behind the series, and will it
happen again? Have all of these films subsequently made it onto video in
Japan? Who are CineRocket anyway?
Any information or opinions on any of these films would be greatly
appreciated,

Thanks!
Jasper Sharp

Ps) Are any London-dwellers on this list planning to be at the ICA over the
next week to catch the Fukasaku season?
