Very sad news about Nobu McCarthy.  She was a fine actress, who did a lot to
help transform East-West Players into a good troupe.
Let me know if you hear more about whether Yamazaki Tizuka will continue
with Gaijin II.  We premiered the first Gaijin in NY many years ago, and I
met Yamazaki at that time.  I'd be interested to know whether she'll
complete the sequel.

  A few weeks ago, we had the head of the Brazilian cinemateque in town and
I heard the happy news that Yamazaki Tizuka was making a sequel to her 1980
film Gaijin. This morning's New York Times reports the sad news that
production has ground to a halt after the shocking and sudden death on the
set of Nobu McCarthy, one of the most senior and finest Japanese Canadian
actresses.
