They should both do the trick, but as with VHS players with built-in
decoders, you can only expect so much in terms of picture quality, etc. If
you're not too bothered by such things either of those players would
probably be fine, but for best results you might want to consider buying a
video converter that can be used for converting between any signal formats.
Most regular DVD players will output both PAL and NTSC formats, but you
need a multi-format TV or a converter to be able to see anything. You can
pick up a video converter for about 30,000 yen plus in one of the duty-free
shops in Osaka's Den Den Town (the CMD850 is a very good one).
