Ishihara Ikuko

I don't think anyone has reported to the list the sad passing of an active
critic and writer on film, Ishihara Ikuko, earlier this year.  Ishihara
wrote frequently for Kinema Junpo and other film journals.  Besides her
interests in such varied terrrain as Antonioni, Tom Cruise, and women's
film, she was also the author of Sumire-iro no eigasai: za toransu
sekushuaru mu-bi [The lavender film festival: The trans sexual movie],
published by Film-Art-sha in 1996, an important Japanese-language survey of
lesbian/gay/trans and queer filmmaking.
