A brief note of introduction (even though I joined a month ago?)

My name is Chuck Stephens. I'm an American journalist and film critic 
based in Los Angeles and Bangkok. I have a semi-academic background 
(an incomplete PhD in Cinema Studies at NYU), currently freelance for 
a variety of magazines and newspapers, and am a contributing editor 
to FILM COMMENT and FILMMAKER magazines. I also write a monthly 
column for KINEMA JUNPO. If you've happened across my writing, you'll 
probably know that I can be cynical, contentious, allusive, and 
sometimes something of a crackpot, but I sure do like Japanese film, 
and show no signs of relenting.
