Government film promotion

The government's Culture Agency announced on the 24th that it will be 
forming a committee to investigate specific proposals for government 
support of Japanese film. The committee is being formed in response to 
the enactment last January of the Basic Law for the Promotion of Culture 
and Art (Bunka Geijutsu Shinko Kihon Ho), a law which specifies 
government support for film and animation art. The committee will issue 
its report by March of 2003.
