Variety reported this Thursday that Dreamworks are in talks with Kurosawa
Productions to remake Kurosawa Akira's "Ikiru"(To Live). Negotiations for
the remake rights were said to have been completed, with DreamWorks' Walter
Parkes and Stone Village's Scott Steindorff producing. However, Kurosawa
Pro chairman and Kurosawa Akira's eldest son Kurosawa Hisao was quoted on
the Sankei Sports website this morning as saying "We haven't reached the
contract stage yet, so I'm not in a position to comment".
