Hochi Film Awards 2002

In what seems to mark the start of the film award season in Japan, the 
27th Hochi Film Awards for 2002 (given by the Sports Hochi newspaper) 
were announced this week.  The results are:

Best film: Tasogare Seibei (dir. Yamada Yoji)
Best Actor: Tanabe Seiichi (Hush!, Gaichu)
Best Actress: Miyazawa Rie (Tasogare Seibei)
Best Supporting Actor: Ishibashi Ryo (Aiki, Dog Star)
Best Supporting Actress: Kanno Miho (Kewaishi, Dolls)
Best Director: Yamada Yoji
Best New Face: Nagashima Kazushige (Mister Rookie)

The Hochi choices tend to be very commercial and unremarkable, but it is 
a safe bet Tasogare Seibei will win most of the awards this year (though 
it would not be my choice). You can check out the comments in Japanese by
