Question on screen direction in Japanese film

Hello. I am curious if anyone has any information on
screen direction in Japanese films, especially
articles or book that discuss the relationship between
the way Japanese is read (right to left) and how in
Japanese art the right hand side of the screen is seen
as the more "dominant" side of the screen. I have a
Donald Richie article from 1986 where he briefly
discusses this, but have not been able to find any
other sources. Any information would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks,
