POSITION IN JAPANESE LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

The Department of African and Asian Languages and Literatures,
UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA, invites applications for a tenure-track
position in Japanese Language and Literature, beginning August, 2003.  Rank
is assistant professor, period of specialization open, however
candidates with expertise in Tokugawa literature and culture, media,
cultural studies, drama and performance or other theoretical
orientations that articulate verbal and visual culture will be
favorably considered.  Teaching load is 2-2, salary competitive.
Qualifications include Ph.D. by time of appointment, native or
near-native proficiency in Japanese and English, and ability to
contribute to the intellectual life of a growing program in East
Asian Languages and Cultures.  Please send applications, including
