J films on video w/ E subtitles

forgot to mention [again referring to the Nolo book] that in Japan you
probably shouldn't take any of this crap for anything published [in Japan,
China, Russia, not Europe or US] before 1946... unless you think that the
seller is going to claim that any copyright notice embedded in the work
constitutes an original work, and is therefore copyrighted ... ie you can
show the film but not the copyright notice. Or, more seriously, say it is a
contemporary benshi film, you may have to turn off the soundtrack in the
classroom, after a couple of minutes. My guess.
