Hi Aaron,
First of all, congratulations on the Yale job! While it's still a
long time off, I hope that preparations and the move both go smoothly.
I just have a quick question about the job you posted about; I'm very
much interested in applying and I think my qualifications would match
well with the position (in particular, I did study abroad coordination
at a women's college in Kansai for 2 1/2 years), but I have to return
to the US for the autumn semester in order to wrap up one remaining
course and take qualifying exams (in early January).
As such, I'm wondering if the October starting date is firm, or if
there's any room for flexibility? I imagine it's a long shot but
thought I'd ask, since I both really enjoy study abroad work and would
very much like to be in Japan while I write my dissertation. If it
would help to give you a better sense of my background, my current CV
is online at http://xilerui.org/cv.htm
Please forgive the scattered English...I'm just emerging from a
translation stupor.
All the best,
Lori Hitchcock
