self-introduction and an Anime question

Nice to meet you.  I hope we can have more discussions on Japanese
culture as well.    

I was wondering about something in a popular Manga and Anime.  In the
Fruits Basket series there is a character who runs a hentai dressmaking
shop.  I was wondering if he was a gay character or if he was following
the fashion of dressing like a woman that was popularized in a TV
commercial in Japan I believe.  

The Manga is a girls manga which often features homosexual characters. 
Knowing that this crossdressing fashion trend was very popular, I wasn't
sure what the artists intention for the character was.  Does anyone have
an idea?

interested for the japanese culture, including the
cinema, for which I have a considerable personal
collection).

I am subscribing on this list to improve my knowledge
on the Japanese Cinema and other Japanese Culture
issues, and also to eventually share some titles with
possible interested person.

I am not supposed to discuss cinema theoretical
issues, as an amateur. As a japanese culture lover, I
would only express my feelings and some comments on
movies.
