Kill the Lost Samurai with Translation

Have to go with Made in DNA. When almost every child
across the country of the same age is on the same page in
their textbook, and learn about their history and social
interaction in a set way, there's a deep unity, despite
the individuality that any person has. A manga artist (I
forget who at the moment) explained that that was why
manga is so different than American comics -- everyone has
a shared knowledge, "baggage", that enrich the stories
beyond what's on the page.

Anyway, "Kill Bill" was fun. Seeing it as a gaijin with a
Japanese audience was the "chicken or the egg" question
writ large, in a way. Haven't seen TLS. The filmmaking
looks fairly impressive, but it seems like it's trying too
hard to be earnest.

Going on 4 years, forever a tourist...
