Dear Kine Japanners,
I have been away for a few weeks and did not keep track of what has been
going on Kine Japan-wise but, in case nobody has noticed yet, this is just
to tell you that the Nihon no Meisaku-series, which was broadcast on NHK's
BS-Hi sometime last month, will be repeated on the more easily accessible
NHK BS 2 from tomorrow onwards. Here is the schedule one more time (citing
parts of Najib El-Khash's previous mail):
>NHK will start broadcasting a series titled ?Japanese
>Masterpieces
>? (nihon no meisaku) from next Monday. Each episode
>features readings of a chosen literary work by an actor or
>an actress, and every time a different filmmaker is in
>charge. Directors are responsible for creating the visual
>contents without making any changes to the text.
>
>
>Channel: NHK?s BS 2
>Broadcast time: 22:20 to 23:10
>
>This month?s episodes:
>- February 17 (Mon)
>Yoshida Mitsuru?s ?Requiem for Battleship Yamato?
>Director: Negishi Kichitaro / Performer: Murakami Jun
>
>- February 18 (Tue)
>Inoue Yasushi?s ?The Hunting Gun?
>Director: Yukisada Isao / Performer: Otake Shinobu
>
>- February 19 (Wed)
>Miyazawa Kenji?s ?Matasaburo of the Wind?
>Director: Kurosawa Kiyoshi / Performer: Koizumi Kyoko
>
>- February 20 (Thu)
>Dan Kazuo?s ?The House on Fire? (made into a film in
>1986 by Fukasaku Kinji)
>Director: Kawase Naomi / Performer: Ujiki Tsuyoshi
Febrary 21 (Fri)
21:35 - 22:25 Nagai Kafu's "Bokuto kidan"
Director: Nakata Hideo
22:25 - 23:15 Uno Chiyo's "Ohan"
Director: Matsuoka Joji
Did anybody see the series on BS-Hi? Although it sounds interesting, the
NHK usually can be trusted to turn anything slightly interesting into
something completely mediocre.
