Comment on Bunkacho Committee Report (J+E)

Several mentions have been made of the midterm report of the committee to 
promote film organized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. Today, the 
19th, is the deadline for comments on the report and I have just sent in 
mine. There were a billion things I wanted to say, but not having time, I 
concentrated on writing a plea for the promotion on film studies in 
Japan. I thought some people may be interested in what I wrote, so I have 
attached it below. It is only in Japanese. I wish I could have said more 
about especially economic barriers to film in Japan (the industry 
oligopoly, cartel on ticket prices, etc.), but I hope other people closer 
to the industry wrote in with such comments. Mine reads much like a 
polemic for film studies, but I hope the committee sees that promoting 
and preserving things is not enough.
