The Kinema Junpo Best Ten for 2002, selected by several dozen film
critics for the magazine Kinema Junpo, was announced. The results are as
follows:

1. Tasogare Seibe
2. Keimusho no naka
3. KT
4. Out
5. AIKI
6. Warau kaeru
7. Amidado dayori
8. Gomen
9. Ping Pong
10. Torabaiyu

Individual awards were as follows:

Best director: Yamada Yoji (Tasogare Seibe)
Best screenplay: Yamada Yoji, Asama Yoshitake (Tasogare Seibe)
Best actress: Miyazawa Rie (Tasogare Seibe, Utsutsu)
Best actor: Sanada Hiroyuki (Tasogare Seibe, Tsukedachiya Sukeroku)
Best supporting actress: Kitabayashi Tanie (Amidado dayori)
Best supporting actor: Kagawa Teruyuki (Out, KT, Keimusho no naka)
Best new actor: Tanaka Min (Tasogare Seibe)

The actual votes will not be released until the KineJun best ten issue in
February, but clearly a landslide for Tasogare Seibe, especially if you
look at the individual awards. The older critics in the poll have always
been partial to Yamada Yoji (though it was nice to see Yamane Sadao write
a long, very good and very critical piece on all that's wrong with
Tasogare Seibe in a recent KineJun). But clearly Hirayama Hideyuki (Out
and Warau kaeru) has a lot of support as well. A rather conservative and
very predictable list. Any comments?
