KUNIDASA CHUJI, though he is actually a gambler and yakuza boss "holed out" on the outskirts, is an enduring Robin Hood character whose story is intrepreted many times largly due to the japanese film industry's penchant for re-makes. He is usually heroically portrayed ( by Mifune Toshiro, Nakamura Kinosuke among others, he even appears in a supporting role in an early Zatoichi film) and is also of interest as sort of a bridge between the samurai and yakuza genre.
