Japanese Feature Films & Politics

Hi !

I have been following the list for a considerable time now but never
posted anything. Hence, owing to the custom of the list a short
introduction : I am a PhD candidate ( law though, nothing with film :-(
from the very north of Germany; living in a very rural area. I am also
helping in the local Japan Society and for an event of that, my question:

Could anyone help me with advice on film titles/directors which made
movies around the topic of Japanese post-war politics ( LDP stories etc...
 ) ? Best would be films available somewhere with English or German
subtitles.
