It looks like Bunkacho/Monkacho efforts to promote film production 
education are paying off, but one still wonders if there is any similar 
effort to promote the study of the history or aesthetics of Japanese 
cinema.

What's odd about the list of faculty members is that at least half are 
associated with the Film School of Tokyo (Kurosawa, Horikoshi, 
Tsutsui). Is this an effort to move away from that School, or is 
everyone there going to wear two hats? (Or three or four if you include 
their production jobs.).
