asleep, or even walked out. But when I saw Kurosawa's "Shichinin no 
Samurai" in Japan, the cinema was so crowded and every one was highly 
alert, although it went over 3 hours (I, as european, had to fight staying 
concentrated). So to my findings so far, Kurosawa still apeals widely to 
the japanese mass, whereas Mizoguchi (although his outward style seems very 
japanese) is one of the most exotic japanese directors. Ozu is somewhere in 
between...
