13th JAMCO Online International Symposium
The Japan Media Communication Center (JAMCO) has sponsored and organized an annual symposium on TV media and broadcasting since its establishment in 1991. This year JAMCO will hold an online symposium "Japanese TV Dramas that Go Beyond 'Japan': Their Transnational Significance and Influence"on its website http://www.jamco.or.jp
In this symposium, several lectures and comments by experts from both Japan and abroad will be presented. This event is co-sponsored by the Japan Foundation.
Throughout the 1990s, Japanese TV dramas have been broadcast abroad extensively, mainly in Asia. How have those Japanese dramas been received overseas? What influence have they exerted there? What cultural interaction have they given rise to between Japan and the local societies of the countries where Japanese programs are shown?
We encourage and welcome your participation in the discussions in this symposium.
