With no Japanese films in the competition, there was not much attention
being paid to the results of this year's Berlin Film Festival, but it
turns out one film did win a minor award. Yoshino?s Barber Shop by
Naoko Ogigami earned a Special Mention from the jury of the
Kinderfilmfest.

The jury said of the film:

The simple story of a few kids who upset a long-standing tradition in a
small village. Without weapons or nasty screaming ? but with
imagination and humour.
