Thanks for posting that, Aaron. I shall try and see the film whenever i can. I'll probably have to wait until Universal Video and Laser do a cheap HK copy ;)
 
I agree with what you said about Nakata's mother figures- they also seem to go to absurd lengths to appease these spirits- Reiko in Ringu endangers her father's life in order to save her son, while Yoshimi leaves her daughter in the care of a father who doesn't seem to be ideally suited to raising a child. Just out of interest, is this something taken from Koji Suzuki's original works or is it something the scriptwriters added? I know Dark Water was only a short story with a brief mention of the divorce which leads me to think Nakata added it. I haven't seen Ghost Actress or Chaos yet, so I can't say whether the idea appears in Nakata's other films. Can anyone help?
