The article that I'm after ("Humanit?s et techniques"- by Ozu, 
published in Kinema Jumpo in 1953) might be an excerpt from this book:

Yasujiro Ozu, Boku wa eiga no mame-kantoku (I Am a Miniature Film 
Director), Tokyo, Maki Shoten, 1953

Which I would love to see in English! :)
