The Woman in the Dunes

Can anybody in the forum share a bit story about a
movied called 'the Woman in the Dunes' which was based
from Kobo Abe's novel, and maybe about the director who
made it ? 

Sorry if this may seems an old stuff, but I just
recently falls in love with Kobo Abe's haunting work
like the Secret Rendezvouz, the Woman in the Dunes and
the Box Man, and it just comes to my attention that the
Women in the Dunes had been made into a movie by
someone named Hiroshi Teshigahara (is this correct ?),
and it won a cannes award.
