Great Society Screening next week!

Next week is a poorly publicized Yamagata Doc Film Fest "play event" 
meant to foreshadow the usual "Yamagata in Tokyo" screenings in the 
fall. Next week they'll be showing Hertz Frank's 10 Minutes Older and 
Xiao Chin's Issho no toki. (those are transliterations from katakana 
there.) And I'm giving a little talk about the "musicality of 
Newsreel."

But the real show is Oe Masanori's GREAT SOCIETY.  This is a 1967 film 
by Oe, who was among the founders of the New York Newsreel collective. 
This film attempts to capture "1967" on six screens. Just watching them 
cue 6 projectors simultaneously is something of a show. The film/event 
was one of the highlights of Yamagata last year. Perhaps someone that 
went to one of the screenings could describe it?  Oe will be there to 
talk after the film.
