This is just to announce that the second collection of volumes in the
Nihon eigaron gensetsu taikei, edited by Makino Mamoru, has just been
published. The series reprints some of the important a rare monographs
on film from the prewar era. The first collection was composed mostly
of volumes from the wartime, the second is mostly late Taisho and early
Showa. Each volume has an explanatory essay written by film scholar.
Details can be found on the Yumani Shobo site:

Featured this time are books by Iwasaki Akira, Yanai Yoshio, Tsumura
Hideo, Kitagawa Fuyuhiko, Hazumi Tsuneo and others. I wrote the
kaisetsu for the volume containing Ishimaki Yoshio's Katsudo shashin
keizairon and Negishi Koichi's Kokusan shorei to eiga jigyo.

Individual volumes are quite expensive, so try to get your library to
acquire it.
