Shimojo Masami

The papers reported that the actor Shimojo Masami, well-known for 
playing the uncle in the Tora-san movies, died on the 25th at the age 
of 88 of cancer. He had been appearing in film from the 1950s, starting 
especially as a by-player in Nikkatsu films. He took over the role of 
Tora-san's uncle with the 14th film and continued until the series 
ended in 1995. He also appeared in such films as Kids Return and Kyoso 
tanjo.
