I'll be giving a slightly off-topic lecture in Osaka on the 23rd. I'll be
talking about the early history of the recording industry in Japan (in
Japanese) and I will, of course, cover eiga kouta and commercial recordings
of benshi performances as part of that. Most of the content will, alas, not
concern film culture very directly. In the second half I'll be doing an
acoustic DJ performance using three hand-cranked chikuonki.
