Hou's Ozu Tribute

Subject: HHH Ozu tribute update

Apparently, it was reported in the Taiwanese media that Hou 
Hsiao-hsien's Ozu
tribute feature will be in competition at venice this year, along
with Clara Law's latest. In Hong Kong, I asked HHH (through a rather
strange interpreter) about the prospects of his film being at Cannes,
and he made a bit of a face, and suggested that
his Japanese production company, Shochiku didn't want it to go there
but were saving it for Venice. Maybe Shochiku had other (more truly
Japanese) films they were promoting for Cannes? Anyway it will be
great to have Law and Hou in competition at Venice.
