blanket ignorance

Being a fan of Asian cinema for over 15 years, I've always
noticed a tendency for fans to overreact to comments seen
as derogatory to their chosen culture/cinema of interest.
This is in itself a generalization, but I make it having
seen countless examples.

This doesn't mean you let stereotypes, bigotry and the
like slip by. But keep in mind, the many articulate
Japanese members on this list could respond to remarks
directed at them, if they so desired. They're not
"childlike", remember?
