Takeshi's 9.11

I don't know if I can keep this on topic, not having seen the show, but I
will contribute a bit.

I arrived in Tokyo about a week after the sarin attacks, and it rather blew
my mind to find that the last issue [before the attack] of the Aum
Shinrikyo magazine [Vajrayana Sacca] was devoted to The Jews.... with its
deep nods to the right [the Protocols] and the left [Palestine], as well as
its implicit recognition of the enduing fantasy that the Japanese are the
Lost Tribes [whom Aum must kill], it seemed to crystallize [without
explicating] the moment.

9/11 was a conspiracy, and half of America still believes it was directed
by hidden players... they say Saddam, but you don't have to scratch the
nearly transparent surface to see the various layers of underpainting. Just
speaking of The Jews, everything that was in and around the Aum issue is
rather foregrounded in this not quite hidden picture.

Abstractly, I'm not surprised by your friend or how the show handled the
Moore movie... after all, 3/20 came first. Concretely, your description is
mind-boggling. I guess I still subscribe to the literary myth that the US
and Japan are crazy mirrors of each other [that's both ways].
