japanese religions in film

Is Kitano Takeshi anyhow "inflicted" with Aum (or some other sect like
them) ?

Mark wrote it was a "long and respectful" interview, so it doesn't seem to
be a comical approach or a Kitano-show with a slogan in the type of "Just
look at tose stupid people !" as he sometimes made on TV.

What exactly was the reason for him to interview the leader of a sect like
Aum ? Was he paid by them to interview their leader ?

Quite shocking as I think that an honest interview with THE face of Japanese
TV could have helped to raise the popularity of Asahara and Aum itself.
