It's just occured to me, Sanrenka/Three Flowers by Shigeo Tanaka (1935 - a late silent) also has numerous elements borrowed from Stella Dallas. It's not precisely a remake, but it's more than coincidence I think. It includes, for instance, an ostracised mother watching her child get married from outside in the snow. The film precedes the 1937 King Vidor Stella Dallas, but was made after the Henry King silent. However, unless you were at Pordenone in October, 2001, you probably won't have had a chance to see it.
