Addendum to previous message:

The Chushingura book in German is:

Hans, Rebecca Sabine, 1968-
Bushid?- Ideale anhand von Mayama Seikas Genroku Ch?shingura / Rebecca Sabine Hans.
Frankfurt am Main ; New York : P. Lang, c2000.
x, 284 p. ; 21 cm.

There's another different book in English on Genroku Chushingura as well. The, I believe 1942, Mizoguchi film was based on Mayama's version--which is actually a huge play, or a novel in dialogue form, Genroku Chushingura, 2 vols. Iwanami Bunko, ISBN4-00-311011-0 and ISBN 4-00-311012-9 (that's the 2004 printing). Mizoguchi's film itself is in essence a 2-volume movie.

It's also quite possible that at Uni Leiden they may have a lot of applicable, and perhaps rare, original Edo prints--though perhaps you are currently studying elsewhere.
