attitudes to Ozu

Just a minor issue with Aaron's mentioning of my earlier post--I had said
that many young Japanese _people_ whom I meet don't know Ozu, and had
wanted to note that neither do they know many contemporary directors. It
wasn't my intention to suggest that directors didn't know of Ozu-- I'd be
more than surprised if they weren't familiar with his work, and I can see
his influence in many very good directors, indeed. Otherwise, Aaron's post
was--as usual--a subtle and informed observation of the state of Japan's
film world.
