Those of you in Tokyo--perhaps in anticipation of Kinema Club--may want
to know about this event.

The 10th Japanese Film History Symposium at Meiji Gakuin University
will focus on the singer/actress Yamaguchi Momoe this year. For those
who do not know, Momoe was one of the major stars of the 1970s,
producing many hit songs and appearing in numerous TV dramas and 12
films. Her popularity was not confined to Japan, and even today one can
buy her films on DVD in Hong Kong and across Asia. Retiring early in
1980 after marrying her movie co-star Miura Tomokazu, she continues to
be a legendary figure in Japan.

The Symposium will feature talks and papers by Yomota Inuhiko, Hase
Masato, Ogura Chikako, An Ni, and Hiraoka Masaaki.

Time: 10am to 5pm, Saturday, June 18
Place: Room 2301, Building 1, Shirogane Campus, Meiji Gakuin University

Some more information on the symposium is available in Japanese at:
