Whatever happened to World Artists

This talk of lapsing film rights, etc reminded me of a mystery I've run across 
recently.

Whatever happened to World Artists?  Their website has disappeared.  And 
checking the Internet archive yields their last home page (etc.) -- from 
around April 2004 -- and no mention there of any impending closing up of 
their operation.

As I recall, WA's rights to the two Naruse films they had lapsed a few years 
back.  I wonder whether anyone else has acquired US rights for "Woman 
Ascending" and/or "Late Chrysanthemums" -- or any of Naruse's many other 
films.
